Rocks, Streams, and Dreams 2024 | April 3- May 4, 2024

What do Guelph and New York City have in common?

We both have a luscious green space, created to give people a respite from the rigorous demands of their lives. Babbling brooks, ponds, specimen trees, heritage stone buildings, birds, snapping turtles, animals and wildflowers are just a few minutes from the bustle of Guelph’s downtown core.

New York City has Central Park, and Guelph has Yorklands Green Hub, 905 York Road, both fashioned on the Cities Beautiful Movement at the turn of the century. For several years, a group of hardy volunteers has been working diligently to preserve 70 acres of a 1000 acre parcel, formerly the Ontario Reformatory.

One of the ways Yorklands is caring for this land is through its partnership with Urban Park Guelph to establish a National Urban Park at the OR Heritage Conservation District (OR/GCC) lands.

Artworks Gallery Guelph is celebrating beautiful Yorklands Green Hub with a nature-inspired show that will include works by Centennial High School’s art students, our Featured Artist, Adam Honsinger and gallery collective members: Patti Collins, Nancy Farrell, Katherine Percival, Sharyn Seibert and Suzanne Wakefield.

On April 14 from 1pm to 4 pm we hosted an open house where guests met the artists as well as saw Mike Schreiner MPP, who acknowledged Yorkland Green Hub’s receipt of a Trillium Award.
